Meeting the demands of fussy eaters and fancy party-goers was the tall order for the redesign of The Ranch Hotel, in Eastwood, NSW. This large and busy suburban hotel, which is run by the ALH Group, caters for a diverse range of customers – from corporate groups, families and university students – so it was important that the flooring in its bistro and bar area was versatile and robust enough to stand up to some punishing treatment.
“With such a mixed set of customers, the design had to cope with the large number of patrons attracted to this day and night venue,” said Michelle Jansen van Rensburg, Designer with @qubed Design, the team selected to remodel The Ranch.
“We wanted a product that was able to withstand high foot traffic, food and drink spillages and at the end of the day was also able to look stylish and contemporary,” said Michelle.
“Traditional broadloom carpet would have been far less flexible than carpet tiles in terms of maintenance and design,” explains Michelle. “Carpet tiles are a cost effective solution, hard wearing, environmentally friendly and very quick and easy to install and maintain”. Serious stains and marks that can’t be removed can simply be selectively replaced with new tiles.
The hotel’s bistro specialises in steak and wine and was the colour inspiration for the space. Interface’s Bertola carpet tile range in Muscovite was selected and provides a solid contrast to the walls and ceiling – and is perfect for hiding stains.
According to Michelle, ALH are thrilled with the result and particularly with the carpet tile solution. “The seamless joints make it impossible to tell that the flooring is separate tiles – I’m sure it will be the first of many ALH venues to use Interface carpet tiles.”
