In early March, Design Shanghai 2016 welcomed a record breaking 46,000 visitors to mix and mingle with Asia’s top architects, interior designers, property developers, retailers and private buyers. Around 350 brands and galleries from around the world showcased some never before seen designs keeping the audience engaged, inspired and amazed.
Interface China strolled around this fantastic design carnival aiming to catch the best of the more than 1000 design works, from high-technology furniture, lighting, ceramic products and art. With more than 24 seminars to chose from as well it was a busy couple of days! The exhibition is truly an outstanding platform for designers to share design trends and ideas, and conversation topics centred around the revolution of industrial design, hand art design, cross cultural artistic communication, crossover design, and architectural design.
As in most of today’s design exhibitions, the biophilic trend was ever present. Natural material such as un-painted bamboo and wood, as well as designs inspired by nature like the “rings on water” tables and the ceramic cloud installation <Cloud says.Landscape> that encourage viewers to feel the fresh air, were distinct examples of items that brought nature indoors.
